Bristol bikefest/SSUK

London Singlespeed placed 6th over the weekend in the Bristol Bikefest 12 hour endurance race in the singlespeed teams category! See the race photos in the gallery.

Will paces it into the finish

Due to a bit of a mixup at the changeover point, Pierre ended up doing two laps back to back which meant Will ended up doing the last extra lap which turned out to be our fasted of the day.

Alex had a bit of a moment during SSUK when as he crossed the finishing line from his first lap, someone handed him a beer. “Sweet, one lap race!”, he thought and set about enjoying his beer and the sunshine, looking at the people starting new laps and thinking they were all rather keen. After a quick turn about the merchandise tents, he realised that in fact, most people were going straight through the finishing area and on to another lap. “Oh, bugger” he thought as realised that the race hadn’t finished yet and picked up his bike for his second lap.

Will had a great SSUK, completing a marathon three laps and winning a Singular Cycles 29er frameset with a Phil Wood eccentric bottom bracket by virtue of being almost impossibly tall.

A fantastic time was had by all. See you next year?

Chris Fieldsend’s off to see Iron Maiden

A bit short notice, but Facebook group member Chris Fieldsend is cycling on the 120 mile British Cyclosportive event on the 1st July to raise funds for DebRA, a charity supporting sufferers of Epidermolysis Bullosa.

As a warmup he’s riding from London to Stapleford on the 9th of June on his fixie Langster to see Iron Maiden play at the Download festival the following day, lucky him.

Check out Chris’ Just Giving page, he’s hoping to raise £1000 for the Cyclosportive ride.
