The real reason is that we were looking for a domain name that was short enough to remember and could be said in the pub after eight pints without spitting all over the person you are talking to.
We drank a lot of beer and tried a lot of combinations of abbreviations, numbers, punctuation and other such sillyness but found that londonsinglespeed was not half bad.
